On policy Wise, we have frequently discussed the issue of biofuels with Jatropha frequently projected as the best alternative. Now Maharastra has taken the lead among Indian states and wants to use Public-private model to encourage farmers to plant Jatropha.

To meet the growing need for biofuel to save fast depleting natural fuel resources and clean environment, we want the PPP model to ensure a quantum leap in production of clean fuel,” Minister of State for Non-conventional Energy and Horticulture Vinay Kore said.

“We also want to engage the services of large number of unemployed youth for sowing the seeds. Since farmers won’t be interested in cultivation of jatropha, the confluence of private sector and youth can be the best alternative,” Kore said at the FICCI Third Global Conference on Green Fuel.[LINK]
